MOORE-MILLER TEAM ENCOURAGES PUBLIC TO TAKE MTA TRANSIT TO THE 26TH ANNUAL BALTIMORE RUNNING FESTIVAL
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Avoid Heavy Traffic, Road Closures and Expensive Parking Fees and Take MTA Public Transit to Maryland’s Premier Running Event
BALTIMORE, MD (OCTOBER 16, 2026) –Thousands of runners and spectators will head downtown for the 26th annual Baltimore Running Festival Saturday and the Maryland Transit Administration is encouraging everyone to take transit and avoid traffic and significant road closures throughout the day. Riding with MTA offers a stress-free alternative to driving that drops festival participants steps away from all the action.
“Whether you are lacing up your sneakers for one of the races or rooting on your favorite participant, MTA gives you the best way to take in the sights and sounds of the festival,” said MTA Administrator Tony Bridges. “Taking public transit is the best way to ensure you arrive at the race rested, relaxed and ready for action as we provide a world-class experience on our systems.”
The Baltimore Running Festival is one of the city’s signature fall events and celebrates healthier, livable communities. The Moore-Miller Administration is committed to moving Maryland forward with world-class health systems and support of healthy living initiatives such as Baltimore’s running festival.
Attendees can view transit schedules and plan their trip by visiting www.mta.maryland.gov.and Baltimore Running Festival.
Every person who takes a train or bus to the event instead of driving helps reduce traffic congestion and exhaust emissions while keeping the streets clearer and safer for runners.
The City of Baltimore Department of Transportation will implement road closures throughout the city, affecting several MTA CityLink and LocalLink bus routes. These closures will greatly impact key festival areas such as Camden Yards, Druid Lake, St. Paul Street, Canton, Fells Point, Federal Hill, Patterson Park, Lake Montebello and Maryland Avenue. Bus riders should plan accordingly and anticipate travel delays due to the detours.
The MTA recommends race attendees use the CharmPass app to conveniently pay their fare. The Transit app will provide trip planning and real-time arrival information, service alerts and detailed step-by-step navigation for all Local Bus, Light Rail and Metro Subway services. Both apps are free to download.
The Maryland Transit Administration is one of the largest multi-modal transit systems in the United States, and operates local and commuter buses, Light Rail, Metro Subway, MARC Train Service and a comprehensive Mobility paratransit system.
The goal of the Maryland Transit Administration is to provide safe, efficient and reliable transit across Maryland with world-class customer service. To learn more, visit mta.maryland.gov, check us out on Facebook or YouTube and follow us on Twitter/X and Bluesky Social.
